Banjarmasin Police Chief Sr Comr (Kombes) Rachmat Hendrawan, SIK MM, asked people in the city to remain at home for 14 days during the implementation of the large-scale social distancing (PSBB).

"Let's together support the PSBB implemented by the city government to break the chain of transmission of coronavirus disease or COVID-19," he insisted here on Monday (April 20, 2020).

He stated that during the enforcement of the large-scale social distancing his party would take decisive action to anyone who does not comply with the recommendations given by the city government.

Before taking firm action, his party will first provide socialization to the community related to the implementation of PSBB for a period of 14 days and can be extended.

"PSBB to come into force on Thursday (April 23, 2020) and within that period, three pillars, namely the city government, Polri (National Police) and TNI (Armed Forces) will provide socialization to the public," said Sr Comr Rachmat in his office.

He added that the city police will deploy as many as 20 personnel in each urban village and assisted by as many as 20 personnel of TNI and 20 personnel from Satpol PP (Public Order Agency).

They will conduct supervision as well as appeal to the people, in turn, to insist residents to stay at home.

"For those living in the red zone, the officers will conduct tight supervision in the area," said the officer, who was previously from South Kalimantan Regional Police's Mobile Brigade.

The former Balangan Police Chief also reminded residents who are listed as People Under Monitoring (ODP) or People Without Symptoms (OTG) for COVID-19 to carry out self-quarantine or independent isolation at home.

If this ODP or OTG still roaming around and interacting (with people), then in the implementation of PSBB, officers will make a forced effort to bring the person into the centralized quarantine provided by the local government.

"Specifically for Gowa cluster in the city, they should carry out self-isolation while waiting for the results of the COVID-19 test. They are expected to be honest with health officers in order an action can be taken quickly, because their honesty can break the chain of transmission of the COVID-19," he said.
