Banjarbaru Regional Secretary Said Abdullah.

Thousands of State civil Apparatus (ASN) within the Banjarbaru City Government set aside their income to be channeled to vulnerable poor people affected by the outbreak of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The Regional Secretary of the city Said Abdullah said as many as 4.000 ASN donate part of their income in response to the circular of Mayor Nadjmi Adhani dated April 8, 2020.

"The circular was an appeal to all ASN of the Banjarbaru City Government as a form of concern for the people affected by the COVID-19. We have to help each other amid this pandemic," he said on Sunday (April 12, 2020).

The fund, to be collected through each government office (SKPD), will be distributed to the residents in the form of packages of daily basic needs. They cannot do their daily works, so the cannot meet their necessities of life, especially staples.

"Therefore, they need to be assisted through a small portion of ASN's income. It is hoped all employees have awareness as a form of empathy to help others who are being hit by distress," he pointed out.

Meanwhile, the mayor's circular has stipulated the amount of donation ranging from the lowest rank to the mayor, deputy mayor, and regional secretary with the period of April to June 2020. The lowest nominal is IDR Rp25,000 for functional employee and the highest is mayor at IDR Rp6 million.

"We strongly support steps to help others in the midst of the hardship of life due to coronavirus pandemic. Our hope is all the disaster that engulfed the whole world will soon end," he said.
