Members of Forest Protection team of the Tabalong Forest Management Unit (KHP) has handed over a protected primate, slow loris or locally known as kukang (Nycticebus metagenesis) to the Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) in Banjarbaru to be rehabilitated.
The rare animal was obtained from a resident of Belimbing Raya Urban Village in Tanjung, the capital of Tabalong District, South Kalimantan, and was voluntarily submitted to the local KPH.

"We have coordinated with the BKSDA and this animal will be rehabilitated to be later returned to its habitat," said Head of Forest Protection Section Zainal Abidin in Tanjung, Saturday (March 14, 2020).
He said all type of slow loris has been threatened with extinction. These cute animals are protected by Indonesia law, so trading them is illegal and a criminal.
Of eight species of slow loris that still exist, six can be found in Sumatra, Java dan Kalimantan.
