Banjarmasin Mayor H Ibnu Sina urged people of the city to refrain from lighting up fireworks and from making noisies on New Years Eve (NYE), but to fill it with useful things, including religious activities. 


Mayor made his appeal officially in a circular No.100/615-BAGPEM/Setko/XII/2019 related to 2020 NYE and it has been spread across the city since Friday (Dec 27, 2019), head of city government PR Yusna Irawan remarked here.

He said the circular contained four points. The first is residents urged to prioritize religious activities at worship places in accordance with their belief, or to do useful things that stengthen a good relation among citizens at their own neighborhood.

Second, Yusna continued, the mayor appealed people to maintain order, security, and cleanliness during activities or events during turn of the year, and not to light up fireworks or perform noisy/rah-rah activities that could disturb the comfort of the surrounding environment.

The third, all civil servants (ASN=State Civil Apparatus) of the city government urged not to overdo in celebrating the new year.

The last, the mayor reminded how important all these appeal, thus all the city government working units (SKPD), sub-district heads, and chiefs urban villages, to follow up the circular.  

"This is the circular conveyed by our leader, hopefully Banjarmasin continues to be peaceful and safe," he said.
