The South Kalimantan National Narcotcs Agency (BNNP Kalsel) conducted urine test on pilots and flight attendants at the Syamsudin Noor Banjarmasin International Airport, Thursday (Dec 26, 2019).

Head of Investigation Section of the agency Police Comr Yanto Suparwito said, the test was as early detection to ensure the flight crew was free from drug abuse.

"There were 30 people who underwent the test, they were pilot and stewardesses who were going to make the first flight in the morning. The result were all negative or free of drug," Yanto, who led test, declared.

Not only flight crews, a number of officers of the state airport operator PT Angkasa Pura who were on duty in the morning did not escape the urine test.

Yanto revealed, the drug test was held also as an effort of the BNNP to support air transportation safety during the year end holiday season.

"Passengers safety is the main thing. If the pilot uses drug, how can flight be guaranteed. So flight crew must be sure to be clean of drug," Yanto explained represented Head of BNNP Kalsel Brig.Gen. Mohamad Aris Purnomo.
