The state-owned power company PT PLN (Persero) of the Main Unit of South and Central Kalimantan is strengthening the electricity system in the two province during the holiday seasons of Christmas and New Year.
General Manager of PLN South and Central Kalimantan Sudirman here on Monday (Dec 23, 2019) said the initial step taken by the company was to assured the realibility of the generating system and the PLN transmision network system.
Based on the power balance of the current South-Central Kalimantan interconnection system, it is estimated the peak load on time of celebration will be 1.075 Mega Watt (MW), with available capacity 1.273 MW.
"Our monitoring estimates we still have reserves of 198 MW of power and this is quite enough as a reserve," he affirmed.

In addition to ensure realibility of the generating system and network transmision system, PLN has checked preparation of equipments and technical service personnel through standy ceremony throughout the Customer service Implementation Units (UP3).
In case of disruption, PLN has conducted predictive maintenance, including by tree cutting and network inspection, especially at vulnerable points which are causes of disruption.

In addition, PLN made corrective maintenance efforts, namely by accelerating the settlement of disruption caused by natural factors such as rain, lightning strikes and tree collapse.
