Governor Sahbirin Noor asked private and government companies to make rainy season as a time to plant trees, especially to make use of empty land and to recover the critical one.
He in Banjarbaru on Friday (Nov 29, 2019) remarked, tree planting as a form of caring for the environment to reduce global warming, and at the same time improving environment conditions which are now experiencing a lot of damage.
The Green Revolusion, the provincial flagship environmental program, he said, is expected to boost all related parties environmental stewardship.
Governor was speaking after together with the state electric company PT PLN planted 10 thousands trees in the area of Provincial Government offices in commemorating Plant-A-Tree Day.
The governor hoped what PLN had done to be followed by anyone any parties, including corporate to plant tree.
"This is the right time, immediately as we enter the rainy season. If you want to plant this is the time," he pointed out.
He hoped, planting tree is not just planting, but also to maintain it in order it will grow well.

Governor said he very appreciated PLN care to plant program by helping to provide 10 thousands tree seedlings.
Since the last few years, the Provincial Government of South Kalimantan has been intensively planting trees as a form of environmental stewardship through the Green Revolution. One of the form was establishing a miniature tropical rain forest on an area of 90 hectares. Here were planted various Kalimantan endemic trees, such as ulin (ironwood) and meranti.

The planting tree event was attended by the Provincial Secretary Abdul Haris, GM PT PLN Region of South and Central Kalimantan Priyo Wurianto, all relevant working units (SKPD) staff, as well as representative of PLN employees.
