The Tirta Kencana combined farmers group (Gapoktan) in Kambat Utara Village, Pandawan sub-district, HST District, held the first harvest of hybrid corn and thanksgiving with Regent HA Chairansyah, Thursday (No 21, 2019).

Acting Head of the HST Agriculture Agency H Misradi revealed, from the plan of planting 1000 hectares of corn, it apparently exceeded the target.

"Our hybrid corn farmers have succeeded in developing it into 1.450 hectares, and the achievement was more than 150 percent," he pointed out.

He said, one hectare of corn could produce 3 to 4 tons, thus the benefit is estimated to reach IDR12 million per hectare with only IDR5 million in capital.

According to him, the low swampyland areas are relatively easier for corn farming. The technology is very profitable if developed by farmers.

The regent appreciated the first harvest of hybrid corn as a form of people success in developing agriculture, especally in swampyland.

He stated, the success in Kambat Utara deserved to be grateful and expected it to be a model and reference for other region in developing the same thing to increase the welfare of the people.
