The government of Kotabaru district and the Provincial government of South Kalimantan signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) related to development of Mamake Mountain in Pulau Laut Utara, Saturday.

The development of Mamake and Bapake Mountain will involve some other government agencies, including Public Works Agency and Forestry Agency. They will handle the legality affairs of the land, and the physical construction of roads and other facilities. 

Regent of Kotabaru H Sayed Jafar said related to the development of Mamake and Bapake technically the beacons or signs must be known so as not to violate the regulations like entering the restricted areas, such as protected forest and non-forest area (APL).

The develoment of the tourism attraction Mamake Mountain is planned to begin in 2020, and the provincial government to allocate a budget of Rp5 billion.

Mamake Mountain is not only a tourist destination, it is considered to be ideal for palagliding sport and have been tested in conjunction with the holding of 32nd MTQ in Kotabaru.

According to the regent, a plan will be prepared to hold a national, or even international, paragliding and hang gliding sport event to coincide with anniversary of Kotabaru.

Hanif Faisol Nururofiq said, the provincial government fully support the idea of the regent of Kotabaru.

According to him, he had made some discussion with paragliding players and had tested some spots in South Kalimantan, then Mamake Mountain was considered to be very suitable and ideal.

"Provincial government have discussed this in the scope of working units (SKPD), we will go down comprehensively. Especially Public Works will build roads with a fund of Rp5 billion for 2020 is safe and initial auction requested," he pointed out.

While Forestry Agency will design roads inside in accordance with forestry provision, and supporting infrastructure, importanly the site design of Mamake and Bapake tourism.
