Kotabaru District Government plans to develop Mamake Hill as a tourist attraction with a million flower gardens.


"This is the fifth tourism object that we develop as a million flower garden, so we have different tourism objects," said Kotabaru Regent Sayed Jafar Al Idrus.

Mamake Hill is on the border of Sarang Tiung Village with Tirawan Village, Pulau Laut Utara Sub-district. This hill is 222 meters highfrom the sea surface presents a beautiful view of the Pulau Laut with a stretch of sea like a blue carpet.

"From the top the scenery is very good, our city can be seen 360 degrees," said the Regent.

He continued, the development of this new tourist attraction is not to use the district budget (APBD), but rather with third party funds. The reason is the district budget is very limited and must finance a variety of more priority activities, especially the construction of road infrastructure.

To build road access to the Mamake Hill, for example, the Kotabaru government cooperates with PT Arutmin Indonesia. "The road that we built along the 1.4 kilometers to the top is eight meters wide so the car can go up," said the Regent.

Meanwhile, PT Arutmin Indonesia NPLCT Manager Hafis S Iwan said the involvement in road construction is a form of the company's contribution and support for regional development.

"It just so happens that the location is close to where we are and we have heavy equipment. Hopefully it can be beneficial for the entire community and local government," he said.
