Chicken meat price was the highest share of inflation in October in South Kalimantan. On the contrary, chicken egg shared the highest deflation, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) has recorded.

BPS has recorded the South Kalimantan inflation rate in October 2019, which combined Banjarmasin and Tanjung, stood at 0,16 percent or higher than 0,01 percent in September. 

Head of the agency, Diah Utami, here on Friday (Nov 1) announced that Banjarmasin has experienced 0,12 percent inflation, while Tanjung 0,78 percent.

""The accumulative rate of inflation in Banjarmasin in October 2019 against Desember 2018 is 3,38 percent, while in Tanjung 1,12 percent," she said.

She mentioned chicken meat, tea drink, mackerel, snakehead fish, and filter clove cigarettes were the highest contributors to the province inflation.

But prices of some commodities went down and gave the highest share to deflation, namely chicken egg, watermelon, red chili, fly fish, and cooking oil.

While in Tanjung, the inflation triggered by the high prices of chicken meat, long peanuts, red onion, watermelon, vegetable tomatoes.

BPS has recorded 43 out of 82 cities experienced inflation, while 39 cities have deflation. The highest inflation was in Manado 1,22 percent, and the lowest was Tual, Ternate, 0,01 percent.
