Minefields from the remain of World War II will be cleared from the area of Siring Laut attraction, Kotabaru, based on the result of coordination between the local government and the Kotabaru Naval Base.
"To follow up the Naval Base Commander's letter we have a coodination meeting and the result is this need to be a concern and there are steps we have to do," said Head of Kotabru Culture and Tourism Agency Khairian Anshari, Monday.
Currenty, his side is making an analysis of considerations to be conveyed to the regent. Then a letter will be sent to the Navy Headquarters related to application of survey and minefields clearing.

"At this time we are compiling a study, while the area to be cleared will become reference for the Navy Headquarters to calculate the budget," he continued.
Of course the cost for minefield clearance is the responsible of the local government.

The minefield clearing is needed in connection with a plan to build a pier that lead to the middle of the sea.
The minefields, although have been buried for a long time in the seabed, some could still active then they potentially are dangerous.

While the activity of adding floor to Siring Laut, now underway, considered to be no harm as it is located at the seaside.
"What we are worrying later when we construct the pier that will be built 70 meter foward,” Khairian said.
The construction of the pier, to be implemented next year, in order big ships will be able to moor here, like Navy battleships which often stop by Kotabaru and it become easier for people to visit the ship.
