To help fishermen get ice to preserve their catch, the the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry assisted Sinar Empang Fishermen Group in Rampa Cengal Village, Pamukan Selatan Sub-district, with ice flake machine in 2019.
The machine, which can produce 1.5 ton of ice flake for each day, use 3 liter fuel per hour and the sale is Rp3,000 for each block of ice.
It was not only makes it easier for fishermen in Rampa Cengal to get ice flake to preserve their catch, but they also get additional income with the assistance.
Regent of Kotabaru H Sayed Jafar when visited the village with his entourage took his time to see first hand the machine which was managed by the local fishermen group.

He reviewed the operation of the equipment, had a dialogue with fishermen who manage it from ice flake making, its marketing, and others.
Regent H Sayed Jafar suggested them to arrange production of ice according to the need of local fishermen so as not to lose.

Meanwhile, ice flake machine assistance has been given not only for Sinar Empang Fishermen Group in Rampa Cengal, but the ministry has also helped Doa Bersama Fishermen Group in Sei Limau Village in Pulau Laut Timur Sub-district with the same machine.
