Indonesia Navy warship KRI Teluk Ende-517 wich came to Trisakti Port Banjarmasin on Tuesday (Oct 15) for a two days visit brought with it 88 cadets, two of them are sons of South Kalimantan.

"Of course South Kalimantan ought to be proud two of it sons become cadets in this class 67, and added with one female cadet from East Kalimantan," said Lt. Col. Cokorda Gede Parta, the commander of the KRI Teluk Ende-517.

He expected the presence of this reliable warship to motivate young generation in the region to join to become Navy soldiers.

"Our bigger hope is many more sons dan daughters of Kalimantan to pursue a career and dedicate themselves for the state and nation through Indonesian Navy. Especially for Banjarmasin whose nickname A City of Thousand Rivers certainly historically and traditionally close to Navy," Cokorda, who has just two month commanding the KRI Teluk Ende, pointed out.

The Jalasesa cruise for the cadets is a basic training to goe to know life on board, such as navigation, nautical, weaponry, machinery, and logistics. 

"What they learn from the class to be practised on board on a voyage of 12 days," Cokorda explained.

The ship which is designed to transport troops along with amphibious combat vehicles can load 12 tanks. It departed from Fleet Command (Koarmada) 2 Surabaya to Banjarmasin.

In Banjarmasin it held open ship for Banjarmasin residents to come to visit. The warship, which equipped with 40 mm and 12 mm canon, will then continues it journey to Sangatta, East Kalimantan, before return to it base in Surabaya.

Meanwhile, the two cadet of South Kalimantan, Sgt Octaryan MH and Sgt M Helmi Wahyudi looked happy to visit their homeland on the sideline of their education.

"We are very happy to return home. Of course we are proud as representatives of South Kalimantn to join the Navy Academy," Helmi, who is an alumnus of senior high school SMAN 1 Kotabaru, said.

While Sgt Octaryan, who came from Tanah Laut District, got a visit from his parents, Sc Sgt Suwignyo and Latifah, who came right to Trisakti Port to meet their eldest son.

"I am grateful this voyage to cross South Kalimantan waters, until I can meet my parents. Of course it is my parent's prayers that make me like what I am now. I want to make a good name of region by having a career in the Navy," said Octaryan who graduated from SMAN 1 Pelaihari.
