The Banjarbaru City Government assisted the forest and land fire task force under the control of the TNI in the form of a portable water pumping machine to be used to extinguish hotspots or flames.
"We represent Mayor Nadjmi Adhani handing over portable water pumping machines and other equipment to support the handling of forest and land fires (karhutla)," said Chief Executive of the Banjarbaru Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Surianor Ahmad, Sunday.
The assistance of five units of portable water pumping machines and hose received by Commander of 1006/Mtp Military Command (Dandim) Lt. Col. Arm Siswo Budiarto as Commander (Dansatgas) of the Task Force 6-karhutla Kodim 1006/Mtp.
According to Surianor, the equipments was to add the completeness of the fleet of fire trucks and water tanks that are focused on handling the prevention and put out of hotspot in the surrounding area of Syamsudin Noor Airport.

"The airport area is the City Government's focus of attention in dealing with forest and land fires under the control of the forest and land fire squad-6 through TNI and Police personnel and assisted by the community," he said.
Dandim Lt. Col. Arm Siswo Budiarto said his party did not have equipment could be used to extinguish hotspots but had personnel ready to be deployed.
"We do not have the equipment but we have personnel who are ready to be deployed to overcome forest and land fires, especially in the airport area so that no hotspots will appear," he said.

He emphasized, fire fighting equipment is urgently needed including water shooters that can utilize portable water pumping machines in order fire fighting can be fast and effective.
The five portable water pumping machines, he added, were immediately handed over to the task force, divided into three units placed in the area of Tegal Arum and Guntung Damar and two units were used for patrol.
