Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Banjarbaru City government held "Panglima Batur Street Festival" to boost it tourism by involving residents, including business people, in the city.
People took part in carnival, competed in various contest, all with environment theme on the Panglima Batur Street which is part of the city's tourism calender of event.
"Especially in environmental management, so it creates a tourist destination in the city of Banjarbaru that is environmentally friendly," said Deputy Mayor Darmawan Jaya Setiawan about empowering of people.
The idea was actually from the Environment Agency which specifcally took place on Jalan Panglima Batur right at STM-YPK roundabout for two days, April 6-7, 2019.
According to deputy mayor, innovation and development is needed in creating a clean and healthy environment thus these activities can inspire all parties to play an active role.
"Moreover, the activity was filled with competitions, such as Trash Recycle Fashion, which was attended by children, teenagers and the public, also carnival using recycled materials," he said.
The Head of the City Environmental Agency Sirajoni said his agency is ready to make the Panglima Batur Street Festival an annual agenda and could even be a national event in the future.
"The main objective is to raise public awareness about environmental care while being prepared as an annual agenda that can become a tourist icon for Banjarbaru to be better known," he said.
