Rantau, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - North Candi Laras (CLU) Police by cooperating with mining companies built healthy standard toilets in remote villages, namely in Sungai Salai Hilir Village.
CLU Police Chief Sec Insp (Ipda) Indra Wahyu said the construction of healthy standard toilets was one of the efforts to make a breakthrough and to develop the community in the subdistrict.
"The construction of the toliet was motivated by the condition of CLU sub-district, which almost 85% is river, with the problem of many latrines on the riverbank," he said after laying the first stone on Monday (25/3).
The police chief explained, in addition to the problems of many latrines which were not pleasant to see, the habits of the community in the river caused river pollution and became a source of disease.
"In fact, there are many people here who suffer from diarrhea, vomiting, and skin diseases. That's because river water conditions are not good for health," he said again.
"The toilets that we build are very healthy standards. In addition to comfortable buildings, these toilets will also be equipped with clean plumbing and hand washing soap available," he continued.
In addition, rooms for men and women are separated and cleanliness will continue to be monitored by CLU police officers and the surrounding community.
"We hope this toilet can be a pilot project for other villages. Now village funds available can be used for beneficial development," Indra hoped.
Previously, CLU Sector Police also made innovative breakthroughs such as smart motorbikes, smart walks, 7-minute reading movements, and 7-minute reading corners at CLU Police Station.
