Tanjung, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Tabalong Agriculture Office, South Kalimantan, took the Sembawa Rubber Research Center, South Sumatra, to develop rubber and increase the income of local farmers.
Head of Agriculture Agency Johan Noor Effendi in Tanjung, Tuesday, said since 2017 the agency has implemented a new rubber planting pattern and this year is also implemented in a number of subdistricts.
"We involve Sembawa Research Center for Rubber in socializing the planting distance on rubber to further optimize the function of the land," said Johan.
This year the application of new cropping pattern with a distance of 2 x 2.5 x 18 meters, said Johan, will be implemented on the rejuvenation of new rubber and planting area of 200 hectares.
Young Researchers from Sembawa Rubber Research Center Sahuri explained that with wide spacing it gives an opportunity for farmers to develop intercropping plants.
"With wide spacing farmers can do interplanting for up to ten years, so it can increase income," said Sahuri.
Crop types to interrupt can be food plants, such as rice, corn and beans or other crops plantation.
The socialization of plant spacing on rubber or Supra-Din (Diversificative and Integrative Farming System) was attended by dozens of rubber farmers.
