Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Lambung Mangkurat South Kalimantan Museum in Banjarbaru showcased distinctive fabrics from various parts of Borneo in the 6th Wastra Borneo exhibition on April 25 to May 3, 2018.
Director of Cultural Heritage Preservation and Museum of Education and Culture Ministry Hari Widiyanto in Banjarbaru on Wednesday said the exhibition is very good for fabric preservation.
"This activity is very good because the goal is to find differences and similarities of cultural custom which leads to the preservation of Borneo original fabric," he said on the sidelines of the activity.
The goal is also what makes the Museum of Brunei Darussalam and Malaysian Museum status as permanent participants by exhibiting the various fabrics typical of the two countries.
"The museum as a place to store historic objects, including cloth, has the task of lifting and conveying to the public the repertoire of Borneo traditional cloth," he said.
The 6th Wastra Borneo is a continuation of Wastra Nusantara which was held in 2011 in Jakarta and the first host of the Pontianak Museum. Then the Museum of Sarawak, Brunei Darussalam, Sintang, Sabah Malaysia, and Banjarbaru, and in 2019 Wastra Borneo will be held in East Kalimantan.
