Kotabaru, S Kalimantan 22/11 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Kotabaru urges the central government to immediately submit the Sigam Steam Power Plant (PLTU) project to the local government or the agency who handles it in order to be operated and utilized for the people.
Vice Chairman of Kotabaru Legislative Council (DPRD) H Mukhni AF here on Wednesday said the mega project of PLTU Sigam with a capacity of 2x7 megawatt is very needed by people.
An area, including Kotabaru, will not be able to advance if it is not supported by means of infrastructure, one of which is sufficient electric power in running the wheel of development.
According to him, it takes a strong commitment of the central government in this acceleration considering the mega project is the funding of the state budget.
In accordance with its authority and capacity, the legislature as an executive partner has been lobbying and coordinating with related parties, one of which went to the ESDM Ministry to insist on the operation of the Sigam power plant.
Mukhni said that the basis of the consultation consideration is the strong urge of Kotabaru people, especially in remote areas for the distribution of electrical connections.
"We see it is time for Sigam power plant to be operated because it has been completed," said Mukhni.
So, he continued, people in a number of remote areas that have not been enjoying the lighting because not yet getting power grid from PLN can breathe freely.
