Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Regional Secretary of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan Province, Said Akhmad said that the establishment of immigration foster village is in order the community understand about immigration and to help prevent human trafficking.
He appreciated the Batulicin Immigration Office that has established foster village in Gendang Timburu Village, Sungai Durian Sub-district.
"We welcome what has done as an effort to anticipate as well as providing an understanding to the community about immigration," said Akhmad in Kotabaru, Sunday.
The socialization provided understanding to villagers about immigration, such as how to apply for passport to travel abroad and to avoid unwanted thngs, he said.
Including about marriage with foreigners that must be in accordance with regulation so that their children have a clear citizenship.
Head of Batulicin Immigration Office I Gusti Bagus M Ibrahiem said that the establishment of foster village and socialization was to provide understanding to villagers about immmigration.
"Community participation (is expected) as intelligence agent to inform about the presence and activities of foreigners in their neighborhood," said Gusti Bagus M Ibrahiem
He added that Head Division of Immigration of the South Kalimantan Office of Law and Human Rights Ministry Junita Sitorus delivered an immigration socialization session.
Sungai Durian Sub-district Head R. Rahmad Mada Tri Wirakesuma said that village partnership was a positive effort by the immigration Office to monitor foreigners in the community.
"This is in line with our duties and cooperation with the Manpower and Transmigrtation Office (Disnakertrans) in term of monitoring foreigners," said Rahmad.
