Batulicin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Five schools in Tanah Bumbu District have won Adiwiyata awards for the provincial level of South Kalimantan for their efforts to improve environmental education.
"The five winning schools are SDN 1 Bayansari, SDN Kertabuwana, SMPN 1 Satui, SMPN 1 Kusan Hulu, and SMPN 1 Kusan Hilir," said Pejabat Fungsional Penyuluh Lingkungan Hidup Ahli Muda of the Tanah Bumbu Environment Office (DLH) Siti Fatimah here, Sunday.
He said, two of the five schools were in the category of Big three of the provincial Adiwiyata school in 2023. They were SDN Kertabuwana and SMPN 1 Kusan Hulu.
Each of them received a set of trash bin, certificate and award plaques as well as a fund from the Provincial Government of South Kalimantan.
Fatimah said that the schools had to gone through specified stages consistently.

They were required to form Adiwiyata team involving all elements of the school community, including principal, students, teachers, and parents.
Their duty is to examine school environmental conditions, school policies, school curriculum, school activities, and infrastructure in connection with environmental awareness education.
"Then, they made a work plan and allocate the school budget based on the results of the study and to adapt it Adiwiyata components, standards, and implementation, implementing school work plan, carry out monitoring, evaluation and reporting it to the district/city team," Fatimah explained.
