Pelaihari, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Police of Tanah Laut, South Kalimantan, has carried out reforestation by planting mangroves along the coastal area of Takisung, RT (neighborhod unit of) 12, Takisung Village, Takisung Sub-district, Tanah Laut Regency.
"Planting mangrove is a real effort to reduce the impact of climate change and preserve the coastal area," said Tanah Laut Police Chief AKBP Rofikoh Yunianto after planting mangroves, Friday.
This activity, according to him, was an effort to strengthen environmental awareness and to support preservation of coastal ecosystem.

"This activity is chosen to celebrate the 72th anniversary of National Police Public Relation," he said.
During the acitivity, 150 mangrove stems were planted along the coast of Takisung Village.
"Mangrove is chosen as plant that is important in maintaining coastal ecosystem, protecting beaches from erotion and providing habitat for various types of marine flora and fauna," he said.
The planting was also attended by Deputy Chief of Tanah Laut Police Commissioner M Irfan and other officials of Tanah Police.
