Jakarta (ANTARA) - Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita named vocational education as the best means to establish partnerships between the industrial and education sectors.
"We will develop vocational education that serves as best practice that would link and match the education sector and industrial sector," the minister noted in a statement received here on Saturday.
The Industry Ministry consistently pursues efforts to develop great human resources by establishing vocational schools, polytechnics, and industrial training and coaching centers across Indonesia.
The Ministry's Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) has established some vocational schools and industrial technology schools (SMTI) in Padang that are focused on the chemical industry and industrial automation techniques studies.
Moreover, Padang ATI Polytechnic is focusing on the agrochemical industry study. Padang's industrial training and coaching center provides training in textile, fashion, and food and beverage production.
"As an educational unit and vocational training, the Industry Ministry's work unit (is responsible for) supplying competent industry workforce," the head of ministry's Industrial Human Resources Development Agency, Masrokhan, noted in his work visit to Padang, West Sumatra.
Masrokhan affirmed that the agency consistently pursues efforts to improve the quality and quantity of the ministry's educational and vocational trainings' work units across the country, including in Padang.
"Of the industry's needs of 682 thousand workforce annually, the number of human resources that must be developed each year must be improved. Hence, let us work (efficiently) to pursue the (target)," he remarked.
Masrokhan suggested all educational units and training centers in Padang to improve their quality, so they could clock greater achievements.
"I expect the Industry Ministry's educational and training units to become better under the motto of 'One Vocational Unit, One Great Achievement.' It means that all educational and vocational training units have at least one great achievement that they can be proud of, and the benefits are tangible for the people," he remarked.
