Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Regent of Kotabaru Sayed Jafar has inaugurated the construction of a floating mosque and an open stage in the Siring Laut attraction, Kotabaru, South Kalimantan.
"Today we witness the erection of the first pillar for the construction of a floating mosque in the Siring Laut tourist area," said Sayed Jafar here on Wednesday (Dec 21, 2022).
The installation of the pile, he expounded, was to determine the Qibla direction of the mosque.
"The regional government will continue to renew and beautify the tourist area of Siring Laut, so the people of Kotabaru itself and people from outside can savor," he said.
Sayed Jafar said that this floating mosque is standing above the sea with a size of 20x62 squaremeter, and is built three floors.
The first floor will be used for the hall of religious activities, library and museum, while the second floor for people to worship.
On that occasion, the number one person in "Bumi Saijaan" (nickname of Kotabaru) also informed that the district government will also develop palagliding tourism by opening a school for palagliding pilots.
"For Kotabaru residents who want to attend training or school to become palagliding pilots, God Willing next year we will open it," said Sayed Jafar.
