Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The City Government of Banjarmasin pushes urban fish farmers to use tarpaulin pond considering the advantages that benefit farmers.
Head of Fisheries of the Banjarmasin Food Security, Agriculture, and Fisheries Agency (DKP3) Sulaiman Thalib here on Tuesday said some of tarpaulin pond advantages are maximum yields, not susceptiblet to disease, easy harvesting, and do not need large area.
"Tarpaulin pond can be in the yard or even the garage, or other places," he said.
To push the use of tarpaulin, the agency had distributed 20 units of tarpaulin pond to 10 fish farmer groups in the city.
In addition, he said, 150,000 fish seeds are prepared for them.
"We allocated the 20 ponds along with fish feed through Special Allocation Fund (Dak) of Rp568 million," he said.
Specifically for fish feed aid, he acknowledged, the amount is limited. It is hoped that the beneficiaries to be able to meet their own need later.

Thalib hopes that fish cultivation in Banjarmsin will continue to grow to meet the need of the local people in South Kalimantan.
In addition to assistance from DAK, the aid was also provided through the city's budget (APBD) in the form of fish cages, seeds, and feed.
