Tanjung, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - A total of 228 employees in a number of mining companies and plantations in Tabalong had been laid off (PHK) from January to September 2015.
"Lay-offs mostly happened in April 2015 to 103 contract employees or Employment Agreement for Certain Time (PKWT) workers," said the Head of Industrial Relations of the Tabalong Social Welfare and Labor Agency Zainuddin in Tanjung Wednesday.
Employees affected by layoffs are still dominated by workers in the coal sector following a drop in world coal prices which impact on the decline of mining activities in the northernmost district in South Kalimantan.
Of the total 228 employees affected by layoffs this year, 53 PKWT workers, 55 of outsourcing, and through the establishment of as many as 110 employees.
Public Relation of PT Pamapersada, one PT Adaro Indonesia partners, Mulyana acknowledged a reduction in the workforce as a result of the decline in coal production due to price drop of black gold in world market.
"Pama Management has suspended a number of contract employees, including offer to those who want to retire early, given the coal business has not been good today," said Mulyana.
Meanwhile disputes layoffs recorded in the Labor and Social Agency as many as 58 cases and 30 cases have been resolved in the mediation stage and 33 cases bipartited.
