C Lombok, W Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - The Central Lombok district government, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, has planned to operate the Mandalika Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) before the MotoGP is held at the Mandalika Circuit in March 2022.
"Currently, the Mandalika SPAM is under construction. Later, the water generated by the system can be immediately consumed," Head of the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of the district Lalu Wiranata remarked here on Friday.
Wiranata noted that management of the SPAM -- with water originating from the Pengga Dam in West Praya Sub-district -- will be handed over to the Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM).
The Mandalika SPAM was established to meet the drinking water requirements of residents in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and its surroundings.
"The system can produce 200 liters of clean water per second. Some 70 percent of it will be used for meeting the requirements of the Mandalika SEZ residents," the regional agency head noted.
The project costs around Rp200 billion. The funding was provided by the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry.
Construction of the SPAM began in early 2021. Currently, work on the SPAM has reached 70-percent completion.
