Marabahan, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Commander of District Military (Dandim) 1005 Barito Kuala (Batola) Lt. Col. Arm. Ari Priyudono launched the priority program of the Regional Military Command (Kodam) VI/Mulawarman, Friday (Dec 17, 2021).
The launching, which was attended by Deputy Regent H Rahmadian Noor, Batola Police Chief AKBP Lalu Mochammad Syahir Arif, Head of Agriculture Agency Murniati, Head of Food Security and Fisheries Rahmanudin, Head of Marabahan Sub-district Eko Purnama Sakti, was marked by spreading 5,000 pangasius fish seeds into the district military's pond covering 14x45 meters.
In addition, during the launch which was carried out live with Pangdam (Kodam VI/Mulawarman Commander) Maj. Gen. Teguh P Rumekso, applied the Siamese rice plant in an area of 0.5 hectares, horticulture cultivation of chili, bean, tomatoes, and kale in a demonstration plot of 0.5 hectare and hydroponic lettuce.
Dandim Ari Priyudono said the activity aimed at educating the community and Kodim ranks about the cultivation of superior food security programs.
“We hope that through this method we can encourage the community and the ranks of Kodim to cultivate all kinds of food in an effort to create food security,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pangdam VI/Mulawarman Maj. Gen. Teguh P Rumekso in his address through video conference said that the COVID-19 pandemic had a major impact on the economy and food security.
WHO, he said, said that there would be a global food crisis so that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) responded to the warning by taking a policy to build food security in our prospective regions.
According to Pangdam, the food security program implemented by Kodam VI/Mulawarman currently refers to the national policy regarding the follow-up to the MoU between the Army and the Ministry of Agriculture which focuses on four important things to increase non-rice food productivity, strengthening regional food reserves, modernization, and mechanization of agriculture.
From here then, he explained, of course, it is very good for Kodam VI/Mulawarman to formulate an effective food security concept based on regional typology with the integrated farming system in order to realize the region as a buffer zone for food independence for the new state capital.
