Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) awarded the Kalpataru to 10 individuals and organizations who have contributed to nature conservation, one of them is South Kalimantan ulema KH Zarkasyi Hasbi.
"The Kalpataru award is a mandate to the recipient to maintain and continue to improve the pioneering and environment and forestry maintenance and management efforts," said KLHK Minister Siti Nurbaya at the 2021 Kalpataru awarding ceremony which was monitored virtually from Jakarta, Thursday.
She said that the Kalpataru's 41 years journey since it was awarded in 1980 and the recipients were examples of the real action by environmental fighters that have had a positive impact in terms of ecology, socio-culture, and economy on the surrounding environment.
Kalpataru award, Siti said, is expected to increase motivation, pioneering, and character in carrying out various efforts to protect and manage the environment and forestry in a sustainable manner.
Kalpataru's winners in the environmental pionner category were Purwo Harsono from Yogyakarta, Damianus Nadu from West Kalimantan, Darmawan Denassa from South Sulawesi, and Muh. Yusri from West Sulawesi.
The winners for the environmental service category were Suswaningsih from Yogyakarta, and the category of environmental rescue won by Pasar Rawa Village Forest Management Center from North Sumatra, Youth Care Forum for Karst Citatah from West Java, and Sombori Dive Conservation from Central Sulawesi.
Kalpataru for the category of environmental builder were given to Suhadak from Lampung and KH Zarkasyi Hasbi from South Kalimantan .
A special category was awarded to Ali Topan from SouthSulawesi as an inspiring youth for environmental advocacy.
