Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Head of Banjarmasin Health Agency Machli Riyadi said that the agency is now intensifying vaccination activities to reach the target of over 50 percent until October 4, 2021.
One of the places of vaccination is at the agency's office on Jalan Pramuka, East Banjarmasin. Here a mass vaccination is held every working day from September 22 to October 4, 2021.
Machli Riyadi acknowledged that the vaccination is intensified to meet the indicator to get out of level 4 of public activities restriction (PPKM) status.
Although the cases of COVID-19 went down in the last few weeks, the central government has determined that the level 4 PPKM status of the city is extended again from September 21 to October 4, 2021. The reason was that the city's vaccination has not reached 50 percent.
"Until now the achievement of COVID-19 vaccination in Banjarmasin City is still at 43 percent," said Machli Riyadi.
To intensify the vaccination, he said, the city has again received n additional of 90 thousand doses of vaccine.
The implementation of vaccination is also intensified at the puskesmas (community health center). There are 26 puskesmas in the city.
"Usually the target at the puskesmas is only 100 people per day, now it's increased to 200," said Machli Riyadi.
He expected people who have not been vaccinated to immediately come to the nearest puskesmas or the service post at the Health Agency.
The city government targets to vaccinate as many as 338,815 residents.
