Barabai, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Regent H A Chairansyah and Deputy Regent Berry Nahdian Forqan together with the Central Hulu Sungai (HST) Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) performed the groundbreaking for the construction of Syifa Medika General Hospital located on the Walangsi-Kapar Ring Road, Mandingin Village, Barabai Sub-district, Tuesday (Dec 15, 2020).
President Commissioner of PT Syifa Medika Muhamad Fauzul Akbar said this is a historic moment for Syifa Medika Hospital, where Barabai City was chosen as the location for the development of the second hospital.
In addition to its strategic position, another consideration is the very strong desire to play role in building the HST district in the health sector.
The plan is the hospital, built on an area of 2.5 hectares, will be equipped with various public facilities, including parking lot, canteen, prayer room (mushola), and green open space.
"The construction time will be approximately one and a half years and Insha Allah it will operate in early 2023. The hospital's service capacity is 172 bed and is projected to absorb 300 medical and nonmedical personnel," he said.
Regent HST H A Chairansyah said the problem currently facing is limited access and equal distribution of hospital facilities. The capacity of the existing hospital is not yet proportional to the number of population. The only district public hospital often experiences overload.
As a form of commitment to improving access and service quality to the public, the HST government provided support and appreciation for the construction of Syifa Medika Hospital in Barabai.
"The presence of a private hospital is very important as a competitor for the government hospital in order to continue to improve services," said the regent.
Chairansyah hopes that the process of hospital construction will be smooth and successful until it is operational.
