Barabai, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Central Hulu Sungai (HST) Regent H A Chairansyah, accompanied by the Head of local MUI KH Wajihuddin Saleh and Chairman of the HST National Alms Agency (BAZNAS) H Ishaq symbolically handed over scholarships assistance at the same time saw off santri (Islamic boarding school student) who continued their education abroad.
The Head of the HST Public Welfare Agency H Akhmadi said that the scholarship program aims to produce doctors and ustadz-ustadzah (islamic study teachers both male and female) who will serve in HST and to develop dan the syiar of Islam.
Regent H A Chairansyah explained that the scholarship is a realization of the local government concern for the continuity of education in the district. The program has been running for four year since 2016.
He expressed his gratitude and appreciation to BAZNAS for working accountably and transparently in managing zakat of the people in the district.
"I hope this assistance can be useful for students in meeting their needs in studying abroad, and to be a motivation and enthusiasm for learning," he said.
"Carry out the amanah (amanah) you carry out will full dedication and responsibility. Continue to struggle and achieve achievements, because the santri and students are the hopes of parent as well as the hope of the district of HST in the future to continue development in our district," said the regent.
