Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Task Force for COVID-19 Response recorded 4,792 fresh COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours on Friday, thereby taking the tally to 488,310 cases.
The country's recovery count touched 410,552, with 3,940 new recoveries in a day, the Task Force confirmed here on Friday.
West Java registered the highest number of new recoveries at 1,026, while the number of fresh cases rose by 872 and the number of deaths increased by two.
Jakarta reported 936 new recoveries, with 1,240 people testing positive for COVID-19 and 15 people succumbing to the infection.
The number of new recoveries rose by 400 in Central Java, with the number of new cases rising by 509 and the number of deaths increasing by seven.
East Java registered 316 new recoveries, 379 fresh cases, and 25 deaths. Riau reported 198 new recoveries, 176 new cases, and five deaths. East Kalimantan recorded 166 recoveries, 165 new cases, and no deaths.
Meanwhile, the number of new cases in West Sumatra rose by 218, with 120 people recovering from the COVID-19 and three people dying of it.
Three provinces reported below 10 new cases.
The provinces of Goronatalo and Papua did not record any new cases in the past 24 hours.
The task force also recorded 63,076 suspected cases in 505 districts and cities in the country’s 34 provinces.
A total of 41,955 specimens were examined using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and molecular rapid tests in the past 24 hours, thereby taking the overall count of specimens examined to 5,261,426 as of Friday.
