Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Embassy of Pakistan, in collaboration with Batiq Travel Services Indonesia, held a tourism promotion conference in the embassy’s compound on Tuesday.
The conference was held with strict adherence to the COVD-19 protocols issued by the governorate of Jakarta, according to a statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The event was attended by over 20 travel agencies and tour leaders, including a few firms involved in Umra and religious tourism. The country head of the Sri Lankan Airlines for Indonesia also attended the event.
The embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires, Mr. Sajjad Haider Khan, welcomed the guests and their participation in the event despite the relatively difficult time.
At the conference, Khan gave a detailed briefing on Pakistan, covering its history, geography, economy, and tourism potential.
Khan said Pakistan had immense scope for the development of various forms of tourism, including adventure tourism, halal tourism, religious tourism, and mountaineering, among other things.
He also highlighted the rich religious and cultural heritage of Pakistan, including Mughal era mosques, forts, shrines, Buddhist religious and heritage sites, and Sikh religious sites, including Kartarpur Sahib.
He said Pakistan’s tourism potential has been acknowledged by world-class magazines and societies such as Forbes, Condé Nast Traveller, British backpacker's society, and recently, by well-known Indonesian travel blogger ‘Trinity’.
The program also included a documentary on Pakistan, a presentation on Pakistan’s online visa system by the officer in-charge, and a special video message from blogger ‘Trinity’, who visited Pakistan in 2019.
Based on her personal experiences, ‘Trinity’ declared Pakistan as the best among the 99 countries that she had visited.
A separate photography exhibition on major tourist sites in Pakistan was also organized in a section of the embassy building.
Dr. Satiti Handini, CEO of Batiq Travel Services, and Amila Wijasekara, country head of Sri Lankan Airlines in Indonesia, also spoke at the conference.
The guests lauded the event and said such programs would help change the perception of the people regarding Pakistan.
The participants also enjoyed traditional Pakistani cuisine at the event.
