Banjarmasin, 4/7 (Antaranews, South Kalimantan) - Banjarmasin Wastewater Company (PD PAL) provides 2,900 free connection to the community.
Installation of a 2,900 free household waste management connection will be with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), said Director of PD PAL Banjarmasin, Haji Muhidin on Thursday.
He hopes that the free connections will grow number of Banjarmasin residents in managing their household waste water through PD PAL piping system. For residents who want to take advantage of the free facilities can apply to PD PAL, but should be collectively, a minimum of five households in order to facilitate installation.
He described, recent public awareness of waste management for environmental sustainability began to improve. Last year alone, the number of new connections was 500. It was never this many and it proved people were interested in protecting their environment from human waste, especially feces.
Now PD PAL has 5,500 connection. With a free installation of 2,900 connection, it will be mounted then more and more people in Banjarmasin whose household waste managed by the waste water company.
According to Muhidin, Banjarmasin need to improve sanitation through sanitation management, because the clean environment will give a tremendous impact on investment. "Many investors in the world are willing to invest if the environment is clean, due to the city's clean environment will be visited by many people, especially tourists and businessmen," he said.
The proliferation of shopping centers (malls) and international hotels, shows that Banjarmasin environment began to improve, especially with the availability of clean water and waste water management.
