Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Bridge of Sei Alalak, which is the main lane connecting Banjarmasin City with various regions in South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan, will be the first bridge in Indonesia with a curved model.

Andika Mulrosha, Sei Alalak Bridge Commitment Officer, here on Sunday said the bridge with a curved system or what was so called cable stayed is also a bridge with a unique design.

The bridge uses high-strength cables as hangers that connect the girder with the tower. In general, this bridge uses a steel girder, frame, concrete or prestressed concrete as the main girder.

"Besides being a bridge with a curved system is the first built in Indonesia, the Sei Alalak bridge is also quite unique," he said.

Andika revealed, the construction of a bridge with a cable stayed system had a fairly complex level of difficulty, especially with the soil structure around is soft.

"However, this problem has been anticipated by using a fairly long pile," he said.

The bridge was built using a 1.8 meter diameter pile with a length of 70 meters. According to him, the length of the pile as an effort to anticipate the structure of the soil around the bridge is still quite soft.

Of the Rp278 billion fund to build the bridge, he added, 40 percent is for foundation needs. So hopefully, the bridge will last very long and strong.
