Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) again will present at the prestigious Energy Saving Car Contest (KMHE) held by the Ministry of Technology Research and Higher Education.
The mechanical engineering students of the Faculty of Engineering who team up in ULM Wasaka Team will display their new car which they named "Barakat Urban Vehicle".
Taking place from 27 November to 1 December 2018, the contest will be hosted by Padang State University.
ULM Chancellor Prof. Dr. H Sutarto Hadi Friday (11/9) led the grand launching of the Barakat Urban Vehicle while seeing off the Wasaka Team at the rector's yard in Banjarmasin.
"Thank God Barakat Urban Vehicle has passed the selection and will appear to compete with energy-efficient cars from various of the best universities in Indonesia," said Sutarto.
For Sutarto, the creation of Barakat Urban Vehicle is an achievement for ULM. Moreover, ULM has consistently participated in two similar championships, including the world level at the 2018 Shell Eco-Marathon Asia at the Singapore Changi Exhibition Center in March 2018.
Wasaka Team Manager Bagus Harits Pratama revealed, Barakat Urban Vehicle will compete in the prototype class with gasoline fuel. This car is the result of improvements from the Bauntung Evo 04 car they made last year.
"Last year we were the top 16 in Asia. This year we target the top 5 in Indonesia and preparing for next year's Shell Eco-Marathon," he pointed out.
