Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Mayor H Ibnu Sina when opened International Conference on Sustainable Built Environment (ICSBE) 2018 which takes place from October 11 to 13 in Banjarmasin said Banjarmasin hoped for input on structuring and design of the city.

"Our region is very interested in getting input from academics of various countries for structuring the city because its position is below sea level and densely populated," he said.

What complicated is the arrangement of the city, said Ibnu Sina, because it was divided by many rivers. Many settlements located on the banks of the river caused a slum impression.

"Indeed there are two patterns have been done to organize river-based slums, the first is eviction with concrete and the second is the building arrangement," he explained.

Which of these two models are good for the city government to harmonize environmental sustainability and ecologically balance, then it needs a lot of input from experts.

"We want to maintain the city's endurance forever," Ibnu Sina pointed out.

Another thing, he said, all that was needed for this city to get input was about designing, so that the city area of only 100 square kilometers could be integrated with the cities beside it.

"We hope that there will be recommendations from academics in this activity later, so we can apply them," he said.

Moreover, said Ibnu Sina, the event held by the Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) Banjarmasin and the Indonesian Islamic University (UII) Yogyakarta invited several speakers from Japan, Taiwan, and Germany.

"This is a very useful event, where many papers on the environment will be presented. We hope there will be special research in this area," he said.
