Barabai, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The Military Command (Kodim) area of 1002 Barabai routinely patrols the Central Hulu Sungai (HST) District to anticipate and avoid forest and land fires (karhutla).
The 1002 Barabai Military Commander (Dandim) Lieutenant Colonel Inf Nur Rohman Zein on Wednesday (12/9) here stated he had instructed all Koramil (Rayon Military Command) in their respective regions to be more active in patrolling in anticipating forest and land fires.
"Given the dry season and the extreme weather began to hit several regions in Indonesia, causing forest and land fires, as happened in the Mount Lawu area, the fire is still burning," he said.
According to him, this activity is an effort to anticipate and prevent forest and land fires. Before a hotspot found, his party already knows and the areas prone to fire are detected.
Meanwhile, soldiers reminded citizens of the dangers of forest and land fires, including sanctions for forest burners so they understand and do not burn.
"Areas that often burn are usually mountains because there are still many people who farm to open their land by burning," he said.
According to him, there are many ways to open land and farm by not burning, because if it is burned it actually hurts many people and the smoke can expose and disrupt health.
