Kotabaru, (Antara) - The Kotabaru District Government, South Kalimantan, will help poor residents to install electricity for free.


The District Head of Cooperatives, Small Business and Industry Agency Zuhairil Anwar on Sunday said this policy was related to the installation of the electricity network had been done by PLN.

"There are 40 villages that can be reached by PLN, and until now 30 villages have been lit. The remaining 10 villages are still in the installation stage," he said.

Communities in areas that have been installed with electricity networks can register for new connections to PLN.

Especially for poor people, they will be proposed to the central government for a free electricity connection program. The conditions they must be registered in the data of poor families at the Social Agency.

"We are still working on it for 2018 as many as 30 or 40 villages. We will propose to install electricity for each village. It is free for those who cannot afford for 400 watts to 900 watts power," said Zuhairil.

Meanwhile, Kotabaru Government continues to boost the electricity supply evenly throughout the region.

For areas that cannot be reached by PLN's electricity network, the government is seeking assistance from alternative electricity sources.

Kotabaru Government in 2018 received solar panels assistance for 515 houses from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources as the realization of the Nawacita program. Assistance is channeled to poor people in island and mountainous areas that are not covered by the PLN electricity network.
