Tanjung, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - A resident of Jaro Subdistrict, Tabalong, Yana Mulyana won first place in appropriate technology innovation contest held by the local Community Empowerment and Village Administration Agency (DPMPD).


"For the category of technology innovation contest, the soil fertility measurer is ranked first and will represent Tabalong at the provincial level in South Kalimantan," explained Head of Development of Village Business Development of the agency (DPMPD) Nurmaliani in Tanjung, Thursday.

The second winner was Tanjung Subdistrict resident with a technology of rubber latex thickening solution with rubber tree skin as material.

Three other participants who entered the top five are the Maju Bersama Group of Kapar Village with the innovation of pangsit (wonton) mulk tool maker, Farmer Group D`Clinic of Masukau Village with rice thresher technology, and a simple battery innovation of high school SMAN 1 Tanta.

Yana said the soil fertility measurer uses a simple material from a former deodorant coupled with a detector plus battery lamp. The way it works is by inserting gauges into water containing soil samples mixed with water. If it contains nutrients, then the light is on.

Meanwhile, for the category of first rank creation competition achieved by SMAN 2 Tanjung with dragon fruit skin as a detector of heavy metals mercury on well water drill.

The second position was won by the Animal Husbandry Group of Jaro with the processing of liquid organic fertilizer.

SMAN 2 also ranked third and fourth for pineapple skin as a multipurpose cleaning agent and utilization of old coconut water into natural pesticides.

A community group of Murung Pudak Subdistrict with jam from cempedak ranked fifth.
