Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Bank Indonesia South Kalimantan region is optimistic the province's economy has the potential to grow better and better by 2018.
Head of Representative of Bank Indonesia South Kalimantan Harymurthy Gunawan in Banjarmasin, Thursday, said the increase in economic growth is supported by better household consumption in line with the maintenance of public purchasing power.
Meanwhile, government consumption is also increasing with improving government fiscal capacity and increasing investment as infrastructure development continues.
According to Hary, the increase in exports is in line with better export prospects for agricultural and industrial products.
From the sectoral side, South Kalimantan's economic growth will be sustained by the agricultural sector and the manufacturing sector as the production of the plantation is better.
Electricity, gas and water sector and construction sector are in line with high investment, transportation and communications sector along with the expansion of 4G penetration of cellular operators also boost economic growth.
In addition, the PHR sector is in line with better household consumption and higher performance of the goods-producing sector.
On the other hand, the mining sector will grow slowly, especially entering the second half of the forecasted decline in coal prices.
In terms of movement in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), inflation in 2017 fourth quarter was recorded at 3.73 percent, lower than 4.01 percent in the previous quarter.
The decrease in inflation was attributed to fewer weekend holidays in Q4 2017 compared to Q3 2017, leading to lower inflationary pressure in the administered price components sourced from air freight rates.
Realization of South Kalimantan inflation in 2017, 3.73 percent, is still in the inflation target of South Kalimantan and National which is 4.1 percent.
South Kalimantan inflation at the end of 2018 is predicted to be guarded towards the lower inflation target of 3.75 percent, targeting a national inflation target of 3.5.1 percent.
