Tanjung, S Kalimantan 23/10 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Section Head of Curriculum and Assessment of Early Childhood Education at Tabalong Education Agency, South Kalimantan, Aswari said that the district has not been free from illiteracy because there are still people who can not read.


"Tabalong District is not yet free from illiteracy, especially for the age of 50 years and over," explained Aswari in Tanjung on Monday.

According to Aswari since 2006 Tabalong targeted illiteracy-free for ages 15 to 55 years, but until now has not been realized.

To eradicate illiteracy in this region as many as seven groups became the target of literacy programs, they are in Tanta, Pugaan, and Muara Uya Sub-districts.

As an effort to reduce the number of illiterate, Tabalong also held the Indonesia Reading Movement and set the Village Tanta Hulu as Literacy Kampung.

Head of Education Agency Akhmad Rizali Noor said the Indonesia Reading Movement aims to improve the literacy ability of the community and reduce the number of illiterates.

Including in developing a lifelong learning community and improving the quality of life and livelihood of the community.

Regent Anang Syakhfiani when opening this event conveyed at this time Tabalong is promoting efforts to establish and revive the village library to improve the reading culture in the community.
