Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan 13/10 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Banjarbaru Resort Police is now dealing with smuggling cases of protected animal parts via shipping service at Syamsudin Noor Airport.


Banjarbaru Resort Police Chief Adj Sr Comr (AKBP) Kelana Jaya here Friday said the police had arrested the alleged owner of the animal body, in the form of the tiger heads.

The disclosure of smuggling case of protected animal body parts conducted by a joint team who got information about suspicious packages in airport cargo.

"We have named SL (35), the owner of the protected animal parts as a suspect," said police chief accompanied by Head of Criminal Detective Unit Adj Comr (AKP) Ahmad Andi Suryadi.

According to AKP Ahmad, SL in the delivery of the cargo of animal parts through Syamsudin Noor Airport using a fictitious name of an Army middle officer.

Suspect SL is subjected to a violation of article 21 paragraph (2) letter (d) Jo. Article 40 paragraph (2) of Law of Number 5/1990 on the conservation of life natural resources.

"The threat of punishment for the suspect is a maximum of five years prison and a fine of up to Rp100 million and we continue to explore the case," he said.

Evidence seized in the form of a head of a tiger and a head of a lion that are preserved and 2 pieces of tiger foot also preserved.

"The proof of protected animal body parts has been secured in the office of BPPHLHK area 1 Palangkaraya, while suspects SL detained in Banjarbaru Police detention," he said.
