State-owned airport operator, InJourney Airports at Syamsudin Noor International Airport, South Kalimantan, confirmed that AirAsia has closed its Banjarmasin to Denpasar route.

"Yesterday, we just received a letter stating that AirAsia Indonesia is permanently closing its route to Denpasar,” said InJourney Airports General Manager at Syamsudin Noor, Stephanus Millyas Wardana, here on Wednesday.

Millyas informed that the closure of route to I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport was due to rationalization by AirAsia Indonesia.

Meanwhwile, for route to Kuala Lumpur, which opened on October 20, 2025, AirAsia is continuing its normal flight operation as scheduled.

"So, international route to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is safe," he said.

Millyas also informed that after Eid al-Fitr, passengers numbers at Syamsudin Noor have remained stable at between 6,000 to 7,000 per day. 

So far, airlines have not requested additional flights. Whereas, arrivals outnumber departures.
