Paringin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Indonesian disabled athlete from Balangan, South Kalimantan, won gold in the 9th ASEAN Para Games at Aquatic National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.
The proud achievement grabbed by Nur Aimah in Women's 100 meters breaststroke. Then at the 100m freestyle class S-8, she also won a bronze medal for Indonesia.
Dr. Ferry, the board of Balangan National Paralympic Committee, as well as CP Football Manager, who also accompanied Aimah in Kuala Lumpur, said she could not believe has won the achievement in the international arena.
"I do not believe I can win a bronze medal, could even win a gold medal, because my opponent is big and taller than me," said Dr. Ferry quoting Nur Aimah.
This was the effort of hard work and discipline of practice, also not separated from the prayers of Indonesian society, especially Balangan residents, South Kalimantan.
Director of Balangan District Hospital Dr Ferry is very grateful and feel proud of the achievements achieved by Nor Aimah. "This is very proud because we from Balangan prove that Balangan resident, South Kalimantan, able to excel at the international level," he said.
Aimah is still very young just 16 years old. He is optimistic Nur Aimah able to develop and continue to carve achievements for Balangan, South Kalimantan, and Indonesia.
The contingent of red and white also managed to grab 11 gold medals, four silver and four bronze. Indonesia's opportunities to increase the medals are still maintained, considering the remaining numbers that have not been contested yet.
Indonesia so far leads the medals at the 9th ASEAN Para Games with 158 medals, consisting of 79 golds, 48 bronzes and 31 silvers followed by Malaysia with 54 golds and Thailand with 37 golds.
