The district government of Tapin, South Kalimantan, is strengthening multi-stakeholder collaboration to expedite addressing social inequality, particularly in term of access to basic services, such as education and health.

Deputy Regent of Tapin H Juanda here on Monday said that poverty alleviation and improving the quality of life of community cannot be handled by a single institution but require cross-sectoral cooperation.

“We must work across sectors and involve all elements, including government, private sector, academia, media, and civil society,” he said.

He pointed up the importance of accurate data as a basis for formulating intervention policies to be right on target. Thus, strengthening the role of Poverty Alleviation Coordination Team (TKPK) and utilizing information technology are crucial for regularly updating data.

According to Deputy Regent, the pentahelix approach, which involves five elements of development is an effective strategy to formulate evidence-based policies to eradicate extreme poverty.

"Today, we can no longer use conventional approaches. We must be innovative and collaborative," he said.

He disclosed that the districrt goventment of Tapin is currently compiling an integrated database that covers various household socio-economy indicators.

"The collected data will serve as reference in preparing a priority program that is relevant and responsive to the needs of the poor," he said.
