Kotabaru's Assistant I for Government and People's Welfare H. Minggu Basuki stated that public needs to be educated to understand the terrible impact of illegal financial practices, such as online gambling, and how to avoid them.

"Education like this is very important to provide insight to the public, so they can avoid being trapped by illegal financial services," he said when opening financial education to prevent public losses from illegal online financial offerings such as online gambling, illegal loan, and illegal investment, held by Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK) and Bank Kalsel, Tuesday.

The education aims for the public to obtain deeper understanding of online gambling, online loan, and online investment.

It cannot be denied, he acknowledged, that rapidly developing technology has both positive and negative impact on various aspect of life.

Behind this progress, he reminded, there is big risk in the form of illegal practices targeting people, especially those who do not understand the potential dangers.

"Such as online gambling which is increasingly widespread, online loans with very high interest rates, as well as fraudulent investments offer promises of large profits without clear basis. all of which pose a real threat to financial stability and people's welfare," he said.

Minggu Basuki invites all elements of society to play an active role to provide correct information to family, friends, and people around them so they do not get trapped in harmful financial practices.
