Two schools in the District of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, have won the 2024 National Adiwiyata or Green School, a prestigious award in the field of environment-based education.

Kotabaru Regent H Sayed Jafar congratulated the schools for their success and thanked the efforts of all parties involved. He hopes this achievement can continue to be improved and followed by other schools.

"I congratulate and thank all parties, school principals, teachers and students, school committees, as well as Environment Agency and activists. Hopefully this appreciation will be a trigger for students and schools to care more about the environment and a sustainable future," said the Regent as reported on Sunday.

The two schools that won the award were the public elementary school SDN Sungai Taib, Pulaulaut Utara Sub-district, and the public senior high school SMA Negeri 1 Kelumpang Hilir Sub-district.
